Some summer cravings don’t need a complicated recipe. This simple homemade milkshake is creamy, refreshing, and feels like the perfect little pause in the middle of a warm day.

I came up with this recipe on one of those scorching summer afternoons when it was about 103°F outside. I wanted an easy way to boost my protein intake but needed a break from my usual handful of nuts. On a whim, I tossed in some frozen mango for a little natural sweetness—and it turned out to be exactly what I was craving. Creamy, refreshing, and surprisingly satisfying.

Highlights of this High Protein Treat

  • 22 grams of protein makes this an excellent post-workout snack or breakfast.
  • Mango provides natural sweetness plus vitamin C, which helps your body absorb iron.
  • Whole milk contributes calcium, vitamin D, and healthy fats for satiety.
  • The chocolate protein powder pairs surprisingly well with mango—the tropical sweetness softens the cocoa flavor.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 scoops Chocolate Protein Powder or vanilla if you prefer
  • 1 cup milk or almond milk if you prefer
  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks or any frozen fruit of your choice

Instructions

  • Add frozen mango chunks, milk, and protein powder to the blender
  • Keep extra milk at the ready in case the milkshake becomes too thick for the blender to process it. If so, add a tablespoon or so at a time to desired consistency.
  • Start by processing on an "ice" setting for about 10 seconds
  • Move to normal blend mode for about 30 seconds to 1 minute
  • That's it! Pour into two glasses and share with a friend.
  • You can keep extra in the refrigerator for a few hours. It may not be milkshake-y, but with a good stir, it makes a delicious chocolate milk.
